Those Tricky Leprechauns!

Look what the Leprechauns did!  Despite making traps, the leprechauns were able to play tricks on us! They turned our milk green, our toilet water green, and left footprints, gold and shamrocks in our classroom.

Yay! Spring... For now

We have the best play area in our town!  Happy kids playing on the town green!

100 Cans of Food

Kindergartners walked to the Have a Heart Food Shelf in town. They collected 100 cans of food as a celebration of the 100th day back in February.  This week’s weather was warm enough to finally bring the wagon full of food to the Food Shelf.  Kids learned about where the food goes and took a tour of the food shelf.  Much fun was had by all!

Puppet Greeting

What better way to greet one another than with friendly puppets!  Kids loved the puppet greeting and we were able to keep them for choice time!

Gnocchi Makers

Our February theme topic is all about Families.  We are learning that all families are different.  Some families are made of 2 people, while other have 10.  Some families like to hike while others like to swim together.  What ever the difference, they all have love.  Ms. Laura came in to share about her family.  Guess what they like to do together?  You got it cook.  And they really like cooking pasta.  Ms. Laura showed us how to make gnocchi.  Yum Yum!

100th day

Kindergartners enjoyed celebrating the 100th day!  We made 100 day snack mix and had fun with the number 100!

Gingerbread Man Loose in the School

Look who came to Kindergarten today!  The gingerbread man showed up after lunch and led us on a chase through our school.  He left clues in the rooms he visited, but in the end came back to our class to be with his Kindergarten friends!

Crafty Kindergartners

Crafting in Kindergarten has become a tradition here at BES.  Yesterday we mixed our 3 Kindergarten classes into small groups and each Kindergartner made some gifts for family and friends.  Parents came to participate and help out.  Thanks to those of you who made it! We love having guests!

Exploring Ginger

Ms. Laura came in to Kindergarten to show us ginger!  We made ginger tea and ginger rice (yum), played a game of ginger memory, and taste tested ginger in 3 forms!  I love the resources in our school!

The Best Part of Me

We are leaning about what makes us special or unique.  In thinking about our differences in Kindergarten, sometimes we talk about the things we can do well, the things we are working on, and our physical characteristics.  This project focused on the parts of us we like best.

Spider Party

We finished our Eric Carle Author's Study reading The Very Busy Spider and celebrated with a spider party!  We were very busy spiders this afternoon learning and crafting about spiders!  I think they make very cute spiders! 

Pumpkin Time

We had a blast at the farm!  We had a tractor ride, chose a pumpkin, and figured our way through a corn maze.

I Am Special

Our new unit, "I Am Special"  focuses on understanding and appreciating that we are alike and different from other people in many different ways.  In Kindergarten we are celebrating our unique ways and asking kids what they are good at.

"I am special, I'm a really good painter!"

Building with Pumpkins

Kids were excited to build with toothpick and pumpkins.  The challenge was to design a structure using candy pumpkins and toothpicks.  Kids made rafts, play structures, boats and buildings!
